Our Mt Vernon wines will always be handcrafted and of the highest quality. Our uncompromising quality and attention to detail capture our core identity and beliefs as the Hooper family. We went to great lengths to select the perfect site to grow the grapes that would ultimately become our hand-crafted Mt Vernon wines. The Klapmuts region has a warmer climate and receives a cooling breeze from the south on many hot summer days. The winemaking process is done on location at our estate, enabling us to craft bespoke wines, such as our Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Product Features
- Deep dark core with tight, blue/black rim. Initial nose packed with ripe, dark berry fruit. Plum and cherry are firmly there with some char and vanilla.
- Definite but soft tannins give good grip. Berry flavours develop all the while and dominate the long finish.
- Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and carefully sorted upon arrival at the cellar.
- Thereafter, the grapes are destemmed and crushed and the resultant is fermented in stainless steel tanks for up to 21 days.
- Thereafter the wine is matured in French Oak barrels for 18 months, and after careful blending is lightly fined and filtered before bottling.
