In 2005 5th generation Paarl winemaker John Robert Frater set about replanting all the old virus infected vineyards with the goal of producing modern clean and fruity wines with finesse and minerality. This has culminated in the new premium brand Frater Family Wines. Hot windy summers and cold wet winters in combination with poor sandy soils produce wines with great character.
